THE Construction of a newly constructed concrete road at Faasitoro Auki in Malaita Province is progressing well and is expected to be completed in the coming months. This project has been funded by Australian Aid and the World Bank through the Cause Project Solomon Islands. The Faasitoro concrete roads project commenced earlier this year and has made significant progress since its inception. The construction of this concrete road is vital for the local residents in and around Auki town and will provide a much-needed improvement in transportation infrastructure in the area. One of the notable benefits of this project is the job opportunities it has created for the local residents living around Auki town. This caused significant inconveniences for transportation, forcing passengers to take two-way trucks and adding cost and discomfort to their travel.  The situation worsened when the villagers near the area improvised a path to cross the gap, demanding excessive fees from truck owners and further adding to the transportation issue.
