The progress has been steady and thanks to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and the responsible construction company, the Marara Calvet is on its way to completion.

The construction of the new calvet was deemed necessary after the heavy downpour earlier this year cut off the main road that connects Auki to Hauhui in South Road. This caused significant inconveniences for transportation, forcing passengers to take two-way trucks and adding cost and discomfort to their travel.

The situation worsened when the villagers near the area improvised a path to cross the gap, demanding excessive fees from truck owners and further adding to the transportation issue.

However, with the progress being made on the Marara Calvet, the transportation problem will soon come to an end. Once again, passengers and truck owners alike will be able to enjoy the convenience of traditional transportation methods as the new calvet will ensure safe and easy passage for passenger once again.

This will also positively impact the communities in the area by improving mobility and commerce. The completion of the Marara Calvet is a considerable achievement in infrastructure development, one that is sure to benefit many individuals and communities who used to travel that particular road.
